Julie Gidlow studied English Literature and Drama at Sheffield University and an HNC in Fine Art (photography). She has worked for one of the world’s leading costumiers, Angels; for Hampton Court Palace and The Tower of London; and part-time in Hastings Reference Library since 2004 which holds one of the largest local history collections in the South East.  She has extensive experience researching material for events at Hampton Court Palace and The Tower of London (social history, government, politics and court life); local and family history online and in libraries on behalf of historians and the general public; historic building research; research for illustrations for publication (Alan Sutton and The History Press); architectural reconstruction and archaeological drawing. Julie joined MSL as Lead Researcher in December 2014.
